Tesco’s next-gen grocery app would be aimed at revolutionising online grocery shopping. The app would utiltize the latest technologies and services in an aim to deliver an improved user-experience for customers. The aim was to make shopping more engaging and time-effective by utilizing technologies that would offer intelegent suggestions.

AN INTELLIGENT SHOPPING ASSISTANT

The Tesco Assistance is aimed at making online shopping less time consuming by providing intelligent suggestions based on task, frequency and relevance.

SEARCH AS YOU TYPE

Search as you type was used to reduce unnecessary page views, empowering the customer to progressively add relevant products to their basket.

SHARED BASKETS WITH INTEGRATED CHAT

Shared baskets introduced an easier way of shopping with other household members under one account. By utilising profiles customers would be able to keep track of basket amends and cost. Integrated chat was used to introduce suggestive product suggestions based on previous buyer habits.

ONE APP FOR EVERYTHING

Tesco’s next-gen app would utilize a single codebase that could be used for various markets within Tesco. The same app would be spread across international grocery, Tesco Direct, F&F and in-store, significantly reducing dev output.

DYNAMIC PRODUCT PAGES

Product pages for mobile and tablet utilise a modular structure, hierarchically displaying the most relevant information based on the respective product type.
